Step into the tranquil beauty of Elgin Heritage Park in South Surrey for a half-day watercolor workshop surrounded by coastal wetlands, tall grasses, winding trails, and views of the Nicomekl River. This peaceful and wildlife-rich setting offers endless inspiration for capturing nature's soft light and layered textures.
We’ll begin with a live demo covering how to paint marshy landscapes, distant trees, reflections in calm water, and how to work with shifting light and organic shapes. You’ll learn techniques for creating mood and atmosphere, simplifying complex forms, and composing a harmonious scene.
After the demonstration, you’ll have the opportunity to paint your own landscape with one-on-one guidance and feedback. This workshop is perfect for those looking to expand their plein air practice and immerse themselves in the quiet charm of one of South Surrey’s hidden gems.
I'll have lots of materials for you to try out (paints, paper and brushes), and will have a gazebo set up to protect us from the changing weather. Don't forget to bring your own materials, chair, water and a water cup (full Supplies List is here). My favourite materials are here in this blog post or shop on Amazon
