Whole month of October of 2018 I focused on whales. I called it “Whale a day” project, where I painted artwork with whales a day. I experimented with liquid watercolour inks, salts and new set of brushes. I had lots of fun, but I also learned a lot about whale life and behaviour. I read the heartbreaking stories of witnesses of whale mothers losing their babies, of escorts (that’s how they call male whales watching over moms with calf) fighting to death, of unfairness of a life circle. I also listened to their ‘songs’ and watched them ‘dance’ in deep waters. I saw how curious, genuine and creative those little whales are, and how loving and protective their mothers could be. And all of these I tried to picture in my paintings.
