Join me for a refreshing evening plein air along the scenic 216 St Dike Trail in Maple Ridge, where open skies, winding riverbanks, and distant mountain views create the perfect backdrop for artistic inspiration. Surrounded by peaceful nature and gentle wildlife sounds, this location offers endless possibilities for capturing light, movement, and mood in your painting.
These sessions are all about exploration, studies, and sketchbook practice rather than finished paintings, helping you observe nature more closely and paint with confidence.
Each class begins with a demonstration where I’ll share watercolor techniques, composition tips, and guidance on capturing light, atmosphere, and key landscape elements such as trees, mountains, water, and reflections. After the demo, you’ll work on your own sketches and studies with individual guidance throughout the session.
Perfect for artists of all levels who want to enjoy painting outdoors, improve their observational skills, and connect with nature in a supportive and relaxed environment.
I will have a gazebo set up if needed to protect us from the changing weather. I can provide materials for this Plein Air Class if you don't have any. If you have your own, check the full Supply List here and don't forget a chair and a bug repellent!
Read my blog about why it's important to get outside to do studies and sketches here
