"Big Mountain Cat" is original watercolour painting of rocky mountains and forest combined in a unique double exposure style, on 11"x15" cold-press watercolour paper.
I’ve always been more of a cat person. I find them fascinating - how gracefully these creatures move, how beautiful and sometimes dangerous they are. This painting expresses my longing to get as close as possible to the most splendid of all cats, the cougar. For the background, I chose a typical scene on the slopes of local mountains with a tint of ochre from the fur. To me, one of the most magnificent things in nature is the eye of the cat. The look of concentration on this cat’s face watching the pray is the most important part of my painting.
In “Enchanted Animals” collection I focus on spirits and inner world of each animal. We are similar to all living creatures with our own background and stories. Have you ever thought about what breathtaking views open up before eyes of the cougars majestically sitting by the roots of a tree? This painting is a reminder to go deep within our own souls and see beauty all around us.
